Real calls · Told by the people who ran them

The stories we tell at the station between calls, written down.

Funny ones, hard ones, and the ones that taught us something. Collected from EMTs, paramedics, dispatchers and nurses, with every patient detail removed.

Why we’re collecting them

Every call has a story. Some are worth saving.

In EMS, a lot of what we know we learned from a story: told in the day room, in the front of the rig, or over coffee at the end of a long shift. Handled the right way, those stories teach, they make us laugh, and they show people what this work is really like.

Our profession is still young, and the people who built it are retiring and passing on. If we don’t write their stories down, they’ll be lost. This is a place to collect them, and to show the next generation that EMS isn’t an easy career, but it can be an extremely rewarding one.

Latest stories

You have a story. Everyone in EMS does.

The call you still think about. The partner who made you laugh on the worst night. The thing you wish someone had told you your first year. Write it down and share it with people who get it.

  1. Write it your way. Any length. Tag it with the moods and subjects that fit.
  2. Protect the patient. No names, dates or places that could identify anyone. We check every story too.
  3. We edit and publish. Credited to your name, a pen name, or anonymous. You choose.
